2.2.1 Global Controls
The Global Controls bar spans the top of the DrumX interface, hosting the master-bus insert effects, effects bus returns, and master output and metering. Four Macro Effects knobs (Transient, Drive, Crush, Comp) shape the master bus dynamics and tone. Two Effects Return knobs (Reverb, Delay) set the wet level coming back from the shared FX buses, which receive their input from the per-pad Reverb and Delay sends in the Pad Inspector (see SECTION 2.2.3 PAD INSPECTOR §E). Each effect knob (except Master) has its own bypass button that enables or disables the underlying processor. Output meters, an oscilloscope display, and a master volume knob complete the Master Output section.
PLEASE NOTE: Option-click (Alt-click on Windows) any knob to reset it to its default position.
A Macro Effects
- Transient — Controls the amount of SSL Transient Shaper applied to the master bus. Use it to add punch or soften the attack of the overall drum mix.
- Drive — Controls the combined amount of Tape Saturation and Distortion on the master bus. Default: on. This is a global master bus effect separate from the per-pad tape saturation selector.
- Crush — Controls the amount of Bitcrusher applied to the master bus for lo-fi, digital degradation effects. Default: off.
- Comp — Controls the combined amount of SSL Bus Compressor and Limiting Amplifier on the master bus for dynamic control and loudness. Default: on.
B Effects Return
- Reverb — Controls the return level from the Convolution Reverb (FX bus 1). The bypass button enables or disables the reverb processor.
- Delay — Controls the return level from the EP-1 Delay (FX bus 0). The bypass button enables or disables the delay processor.
C Master Output
- Master — Controls the master output volume.
- L/R Meters — Vertical peak meters showing the left and right output levels.
- Scope — An oscilloscope waveform display showing the real-time audio output.
